CD4016B: when the input is greater that 5V, the output does not appear.

Part Number: CD4016B

Hi Team,

Good day. I am posting this inquiry on behalf of the customer.

"On the datasheet, it is mentioned that the supply voltage can go up to 20V, however, when we give it more than 5V the output does not appear.

I am trying to use the CD4016B to change between two voltages, however, when I supply the IC with more than 5V, no output comes out irrespective of the input voltage and the level of the select pin.

I tried 5V and it seemed to work but as I increased the voltage, no output came out.

I understood that the maximum Vdd is 20V, as it is written on the datasheet, but in my case when I give it more than 5V, no output appears, and if I give an input higher than Vdd there is the possibility of damaging the IC."

Please help to advise. Thank you for extending your help.

Kind regards,

Marvin
