TMUX8212: More THD+N specs please

TMUX8212 looks like it has potential for professional audio. Can you specify THD+N under the following conditions?

±15V or ±18V

10KΩ and 100KΩ load

10Vpp and 20Vpp

20Hz to 20kHz BW

Alternatively, a plot that would capture all of this nicely would be Vrms vs. THD+N for a given supply voltage and load, like any op amp data sheet. You already have the 1KΩ data. It's especially relevant because of this note, in section 9.3.2: "The flattest on-resistance region extends from VSS to roughly 5 V below VDD. Once the signal is within 5 V of VDD the on-resistance will expoentially increase and may impact desired signal transmission." OK, so...can you show us that graphically?

    While we do not have a plot under the exact conditions you specified, we do have plots that are pretty close to what you are looking for in our datasheet:

    In addition, what we mean by the "exponential increase" is that as the input voltage starts getting close to the rail voltage of the device (within about 5V of the VDD), the on resistance starts increasing significantly as you can see from the RON curives in the datasheet (prior to that, it is extremely flat):

  • Thanks for your reply. I saw those plots. The conditions I’m discussing are very different. TI has similar test conditions to what I suggest for parts in the 36V and 44V switch families, but the point is that this part looks capable of better performance.

    The THD takeoff in particular…on the very common dual 15V supplies, it matters greatly whether that happens at 25V or 28V. The datasheet plot shows 3V better performance than described.

    Nobody wants to see this part perform better on paper? Could be, y’know, good for business.

    For the +/-15V case, we have a good plot that shows the takeoff as seen below (close to 11-12V here):

    We say "roughly 5V" as it changes a bit depending on the exact supply rail you are using.

    In regards to the the conditions you specified, cannot say we have has those conditions requested for this part in the past and we do our best to capture data that we would believe to be most useful to our customers. It is not feasible for us to capture every condition/setup in every type of use case.
