MUX for CAN bus application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD4053B-Q1

Hi Sir,

Could you please help to suggest if you have any CAN BUS MUX are suitable for below application?

Thank you

  • Anne,

    In the diagram it is difficult to tell how many data lanes and configuration you would like to switch so I will give my interpretation to the diagram below:

    Bottom Mux need is a 1-channel 2:1 mux that will take 1 bit from CAN1 and 1 bit from J1708 XCVR and chose which one is selected to connect to the DB15connector.

    Middle Mux need is a 1-channel 1:1 mux that will isolate 1 bit from the CAN1 XCVR from the DB15 Connector

    Top Mux need is 1-channel 1:1 mux that will isolate 1 bit

    Can you confirm the voltage and datarates you would like to support?

    CAN1 XCVR

    Voltage = 12V

    Data rate  = 5Mbps

    J1708 XCVR

    Voltage = 12 V

    Data rate = 10 kbps

    TI.com switch selection tool has many parts that will support 5Mbps devices but not many that support 12V.  If you can use low voltages there are many more options available.

    What do you think about the CD4053B-Q1 or TMUX1511device?

    Thank you,

    Adam
