TS5A3166-Q1: What is the difference between Continuous Current through V+ and Positive Supply Current?

Part Number: TS5A3166-Q1

Can you please let me know what is the difference between Continuous Current through V+ (I+) and Positive Supply Current (I+)?

Thank you!

  • Whitney,

The positive supply current stated under the electrical specifications table is the expected amount of current that is consumed by the device with V+ = 5.5 V.

The continuous current through V+ stated in the abs max table is the amount of current that could cause permeant damage to the device since it is in the abs max rating table. This is not a recommended state and would happen if the signal path voltage exceeded the supply voltage and started sinking current through the ESD protection diode.

    Thank you,
    Adam
