TS3L110: TS3L110 used to switch Ethernet signals

Part Number: TS3L110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74CB3Q3257, TMUX1574

Hi,

I'm planning to use TS3L110 to switch  100M Ethernet RX/TX signals between two Ethernet ports. I use the Phy chip LAN8710A and the schematics of this part is shown as attached.

I have following questions:

1. Is the usage of TS3L110 in this schematics correct? (put it directly on the TX/RX differential pairs of the Ethernet signals, before they go into the Ethernet transformer)

2. Is it possible to use SN74CB3Q3257 as a pin-to-pin compatible replacement to TS3L110? from electrical characteristics point of view, I found they are similar,So I'd like to confirm with TI. But there is also some confusing information on the pinout of TS3L110 in the datasheet as mentioned in this question: https://e2e.ti.com/support/switches-multiplexers/f/388/p/828253/3070181#3070181

Thanks for the help!

Regards,

Shan

  • Hi, Shan,

    1. I do not see any issues on the usage of the TS3L110.
    2. Yes the TS3L110 is pin compatible to SN74CB3Q3257 (TVSSOP, SSOP, and TSSOP packages). If you happen to be considering the TSSOP package, the newly release TMUX1574 could be another good option to consider and it's pin compatible to both devices as well. The TMUX1574 provide much higher BW (2GHz), lower RON, and better performance overall. It also has a smaller QFN option is space is premium.

    Thanks,
    David
