SN74CB3Q3257: 2:1, 4 Channel switch, I2C Interface

Part Number: SN74CB3Q3257
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUX1574, SN74CBTLV3257

Hi,

Can you advise whether SN74CB3Q3257 is suitable for i2c interface application?

Or

Is there a better solution in 2:1, 4 channel that supports I2C.

Thanks

Saminah

  • Saminah,

I think I answered part of this question in another thread, I’ll link it here.

The BW (f3db = 500Mhz), I/O current specs (+-64mA max), on-capacitance (10.5pF typical), on-resistance (4 ohm typical), should be sufficient to support I2C communication. The SN74CB3Q3257 2:1, 4-channel, SPDT, is specifically designed for data intensive applications, and has a max switching frequency foe = 20 Mhz.

I could recommend the 2:1, SPDT, 4-channel, TMUX1574, which is p2p (pin to pin) compatible to the SN74CBTLV3257 which is p2p compatible to SN74CB3Q3257.

The TMUX1574 is an upgrade from the SN74CB3Q3257. TMUX1574 supports more features like I/O signal voltage beyond supply, a higher BW (2 GHz), lower on-capacitance (7.5pF), lower on-resistance (2 ohm), and more.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards,

    Tyler
