TS12A44514 logic high threshold for 12V power supply

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS12A44514, TLC339

Hi, please help me to aunderstand: watch logic high threshold for TS12A44514 if a use 12 V power supply. Can I use for control 3,3 V logic level? In datasheet on page 4 (table for 12 V power) specified min. 5V high level threshold, but on page 8 specified "about 3 V".

  • Hello Andrej,

The guaranteed voltage range over full temperature for the TS12A44514 when using a 12V supply is specified from 5V..V+ on page 4. The paragraph on page 8 is talking about the typical switching voltage of the device.

If you want to work with the guaranteed minimum voltage for switching you have to use a 5V signal. If you are fine with the typical values you could try a lower voltage. Please be aware that using typical values is always a risk and some thought/experiments should be done before doing this.

Some people use comparators with an open drain output for similar tasks. I don't know about your specific application, but it might be worth a look if you can use a part like TLC339.

  • Thank you Thomas. I dare to use TLC339 or simple N-chenal MOSFET (logic level control).
