Hi,

I'm noticing that the minimum signal voltage under "absolute maximum ratings" is listed as -0.5 V.  Is this supposed to represent the DC level, or the minimum signal swing?  I have an application where the input signal (max frequency of about 6 MHz) has a 0V DC level, but swings between +0.5V and -0.5V.  Would this be okay, or would this degrade the life of the part?  Due to SI concerns in the low-frequency, I'd like to avoid using a blocking cap and bias network if at all possible.

    The operating in the abs max region of the spec is not recommended and may cause reliability concerns as stated in note 1. The electrical characteristics specifications of the device are not guaranteed if operated outside the recommended operating conditions.

    The reason the -0.5V is stated is due to the esd protection clamp diodes that are present from the signal path to ground. As the voltage on the signal path is increasingly negative the clamp diodes could start to be forward biased and begin leaking current.

    What are you connecting to the switch that you have negative signals present during normal operation? If you need to support negative voltage signals you may use a device like the TS5A22362.
