TS5A22364-Q1: Floating NO1 / NO2

Part Number: TS5A22364-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS5A22364

Hello,

Per the datasheet, leaving floating digital inputs is a big no-no because it can cause excessive current consumption. Are there any risks in leaving NO1/NO2 floating?

Thanks,

-Ted

  • Ted,

The control logic pins are typically an inverter type buffer which is why it is at risk of shorting Vcc to ground.   When this type of input is floating it can be at a mid voltage range and partially turn on the high side and the low side FET simultaneously.

The signal path pin of the TS5A22364 are connected to the drain and source of a FET switch so there isn't the possibility of shorting Vcc to ground no matter what voltage it floats to.

There is low risk of leaving NO1/NO2 pins floating.

  • Adam,

Thank you for your in-depth response -- that's exactly what I was hoping.

    Thanks!
