CCSv5: SW Breackpoints dont work

I'm debugging a CCS project with CCS v5.3 and BeagleBone rev. A6, using a PC with Windows XP Home Edition SP3, where I have installed a Virtual machine VMware v4.06, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and SDK .ti-sdk-am335x-evm-05.07.00.00

I load the executable file on the target with RSE, launch the gdbserver on the target, in CCS environment launch debug configuration, debugging starts and stops on the first instruction of main, I enable a breakpoint (the correct icon appears), resume the program but it does not stop on breakpoint, instead, step by step it works.

In Breakpoint properties I see "Breakpoint is not attached to an active debug context. Please launch the debug session where this breakpoint is attached."

What means? I'm in debug session !!!

It sounds like you have set a CCS breakpoint and not a CDT breakpoint. CCS breakpoint is for TI debugger (JTAG), where as CDT breakpoint can be use for gdb debugger.

If you are in the source window, try right clicking on the left margin, there should be an option to switch to C++ breakpoint type. The same option also exist in the Run menu, near the bottom of the list.

Thank for the answer, I have resolved the problem.

Now, I have another question.

In my project one thread uses a signal SIGUSR1 and CCSv5 automatically break the program, I don’t want this.

Is possible disable automatically breakpoint on signal SIGUSR1?

Hi Luciano,

You can disable GDB from handling your signal, try entering this in the gdb console view "handle SIGUSR1 nostop". If you want to disable this every time you start a debug session, then enter this command in the .gdbini file, within the launch configuration.
