Hi
I have a problem using the Spectrum Digital XDS510 USB emulator.
When trying to connect to a target this is what i get:
Error connecting to the target:
Error 0x80000240/-2082
Fatal Error during: Initialization, OCS,
Device driver: Emulation Connection Loss Detected on Target CPU.
It is recommended to RESET EMULATOR. This will disconnect each
target from the emulator. The targets should then be power cycled
or hard reset followed by an emureset and reconnect to each target.
I/O Port = 0
Board Name: F28035 XDS510 Emulator
Cpu Name: TMS320C2800_0
Abort: Close Code Composer Studio.
Retry: Try to connect to the target again.
Cancel: Remain disconnected from the target
Diagnostic: Run diagnostic utility.
This happens on different EVMs. When using the XDS100 onboard emulator it works fine.
When i run the Reset Emulator. I get this error message:
Failed to reset the emulator: This error was generated by TI's USCIF driver. SC_ERR_CTL_NO_TRG_POWER <-180> The controller has detected a target power loss. The user must turn-on or connect the power supply for the target.
The emulator seems to be working according to Windows
I have installed CCS3.3 and the driver+patch downloaded from Spectrum Digitals homepage:
http://support.spectrumdigital.com/ccs33/
The version of CCS is:
I have tryed to connect to our "Multi Axis DMC EVM (R3)" board and the "2 ch buck EVM" with the same result.
Hope you can help me out.
Anders,
Have you run the SDConfig utility? If SDConfig is unable to connect, then there is absolutely no point in trying to use CCS.
Run the SDConfig utility and make sure the emulator driver is setup correctly.

David
OK. You've got an emulator setup problem. Forget about CCS until you get this resolved.
Unplug your emulator, and reboot the PC. Then, replug the emulator. Does the emulator USB enumerate OK?
Next, in SDConfigEX, run the Configuration->Ports_Available function. See if it sees your emulator.

Anders,
It looks like the USB enumerated properly and SDConfig is finding the emulator. The next step is to run Emulator->Reset and then Emulator->Test in SDConfigEx. I think you've already done this though, and reported a problem.
What happens if you run Emulator->Reset?
- David
Anders,
Is the emulator known good? Can you test the emulator on a different PC? Alternately, test your PC using a different XDS510USB? Not sure what else to do. Contact Spectrum Digital I suppose.
Regards,
David
Hi David.
I have tried it on my private PC and everything is working fine, so I will get in thouch with IT :(
At a customer meeting last week, I experinced a similar issue with a XDS100 emulator.
How do we investigate issues with this debugger? It seems like the SDConfig doesnt support XDS100...

Anders
Hello David,
We just bought the XDS510 USB plus for our C5407 DSP. We use CCS3.1. After running some parts of code dosen't work properly. Can you talle us which board we should use in CCS setup because we cannot find C5407 in setup? Thanks.
Regards
Roger
Hello !!
We get this error :
The controller has detected a target power loss.
The user must turn-on or connect the power supply for the target.
Because, We need to connect the USB cable from the PC to the XDS100 hardware. and then Connect the JTAG to the target board, before powered the borad with 5V input through either J1
else if the board is powred before connecting the jtag emulator we get this error.
This answred is verified.
Please verify these answer to close this thread.
Think you !!
I had all the same problems with the same errors. Then I realized that there was no power running through my board. All the errors disappeared. The first basic question we forget to ask ourselves... "Is the power on?"
