CCS: CCS: Version: 9.0.1.00004 | Import example from resource explorer failed

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

I can not import examples from Resource Examples

CCS: Version: 9.0.1.00004

  • The process shown above has a few steps.
    At which step it breaks?
  • Hello,

Every time when I want to import project into the IDE the above dialog shown. I have downloaded it several times, deleted the C:ti/folder, rediscovered, etc... but no success.

    Any idea?

  • From the screenshot the TI-RTOS for TivaC has the "green down arrow" overlay shown for the directories which is an indication that the TI Resource Explorer thinks TI-RTOS for TivaC has been downloaded, so not sure why you get the error.

With CCS 9.0.1.00004 under Ubuntu I have TI-RTOS for TivaC v2.16.00.08 installed and the TI Resource Explorer is letting me import projects into the IDE.

  • Hey,

I am under win10. What information do u need to move forward? If I make a video does it help? I also had some issues with CCS 9.0.0.x ....

I tried under Windows 10 and can't repeat the failure.

Not sure what is causing the error.

Can you try rebuilding the tirex database by the following:

    a. Closing CCS.

    b. Rename the ti\tirex-localserver-3.7.0 directory in your Windows user profile directory.

    c. Restart CCS

    d. Open TI Resource Explorer which should re-import the downloaded projects.

Does that allow the example projects to be imported?

  • We recently made some updates to the Resource Explorer server. This may be the root cause. Please try cleating the ReX cache as Chester mentioned, along with the CCS browser cache:
    software-dl.ti.com/.../ccs_troubleshooting.html

    Thanks

I noticed that CCS 9.0.1 creates a tirex-product-tree folder (in C:\ti under Windows and in ${HOME}/ti under Linux) as well as the tirex-localserver-[version] folder.

Should the tirex-product-tree folder also be deleted as part of clearing the ReX cache?

I noticed two other users have the same problem as Daniel Vamos with CCS 9.0.1 but with different products - see CCS/CC1310: Can't import to IDE in CCS 9.0.1.00004 and CCS/AWR1642BOOST: Problem importing the project. Not sure if these are all the same problem.

This folder is interesting. I didn't notice it before. It seems to just have images for various packages. I'm not sure what the purpose of this is (will need to look)

yes I believe they are all related. Some background - we recently made some updates to the Resource Explorer server. If you got to http://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore you will notice a new look to Resource Explorer. The Resource Explorer in CCS will eventually be updated also. Anyway, after the updates, a new tirex cache folder appeared (tirex-localserver-3.7.0). This folder should be automatically generated and the database populated with the metadata for all the installed rex packages. This database is in: C:\Users\[username]\ti\tirex-localserver-3.7.0\db\resources.db. there should be metadata and an index for each package. If an entry is missing, then that package is not recognized as being installed by resource explorer. If you delete the whole tirex-localserver-3.7.0 folder, it should force Resource Explorer to create a new one and scan the system for installed products and grab the metadata for it.

  • None of ur above suggestions worked. Here is a screenshot about "undefined" after a fresh install of CCS.

  • Where to go within a preferences to change an install folder?
Right now I cannot find it.

Click the "three stacked blue lines" in the top right of the resource explorer to open a menu:

And then select Preferences which displays:

I have also been switching between CCS 8.3 and CCS 9.0.1 on the same PC (using a different workspace for each). When returned to CCS 9.0.1 Resource Explorer had forgotten the list of locally installed products and wouldn't let me import any examples. Selecting "Scan Desktop" from the Resource Explorer then re-found the products and was able to import them into Resource Explorer, and then able to import examples to the IDE again:

Perhaps the "Rescan Desktop" will fix the problems others have been having.

  • I am actually having the exact same problem, but am on MacOS. I installed the CCS v 9.0.1.00004 last week and have had a lot of problems since installing it. First it would not compile anything. So, I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. Then it would not allow me to import any examples into my IDE and I am getting the same errors that you are receiving. I have followed the forums' advice to clear the TI-REX cache and have even completely deleted and reinstalled TI_RTOS for Tiva C and the Tiva C stuff. And I am still having the same issue. This is exceptionally frustrating, since I am currently taking a University unit that has all of its computer labs are based on the examples and modifying them in one way or another. So, not being able to import these examples is about to start damaging my ability to do my required work for the unit. If you get any solutions, I would appreciate a point in the right direction as well.

  • Daniel,

    Can you go to:

    C:\Users\[username]\ti\tirex-localserver-3.7.0\db\resources.db

And take a screenshot of the contents of the folder?

    For example I see:

Note the items in the red square which indicate that TI-RTOS for Tiva is installed.

    Thanks

    ki

Can you also provide a screenshot of your tirex-localserver-3.7.0\db\resources.db folder?

  • Here it is,

You can see, I dont have any of your files

  • Actually I'm looking for the contents of the "resources.db" subfolder in your screenshot
  • Hello,

    Only 2 files I have:

  • Can you attach those files to this thread?
  • The 3173.resources.db.zip attachment from Daniel is an exact binary match of the files from my Windows 10 PC in which can successfully import TI-RTOS for TivaC examples into the IDE. I.e. must be a different problem to the content of those files.

Daniel, what happens if you try the Resource Explorer "Scan Desktop" menu option I showed in a previous post?

  • Hi Daniel,

Are you available for a teleconf/WebEx so we can have a look at you machine to see if we can understand what is going wrong. If you are then please send me an email. Also can you send me the newest .log file in <user>/ti/tirex-localserver-3.7.0/.logs/.

    Thanks,
    Imtaz.

  • The root case has been identified (thank you Imtaz and Daniel). It appears that having the board/device filter enabled will prevent importing. As a workaround, please clear the filter so that it is blank:

I filed a bug for the issue. Tracking ID: REX-2566

Apologies for the delay in responding, I moved onto another unit's work and didn't realise when I kept checking this page that the forum had expanded onto a second page.

  • Hi RobotGirl,

Please check the post just above yours. It explains the root cause and how to workaround the issue.

    Thanks
