CCSv5 on Linux - legacy C64x device support: XDS560v2 driver not present to support C6412/DM642/C6416?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6412

Team,
Go the following feedback on CCSv5 Linux:

Question on emulating legacy C64x devices with CCSv5 on LINUX:
Up to now it seems that the following two combinations up and running:
- Win XP, CCS v4, XDS560v2, TMS320C6412
- Win XP, CCS v5, XDS560v2, TMS320C6412
What still doesn't work is CCS v5 under Linux.
When I try to set up the same target configuration, I get an error message:
"Unable to find an appropriate device driver for connection type TIXDS560 and C6412"
Other emulators also don't support C64xx. The only working combination is a simulator.
It seems there are no Linux drivers at all for the C64xx CPU family.
Are such drivers are available or will be available in future?

Thanks and best regards,

Anthony

  • Added a picture so that you can see the exact error message.

  • Some additional information: Linux version is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, the same as needed for the Integra's Linux SDK. Emulator is a Spectrum Digital XDS560v2 STM. Spectrum Digital says it's a TI issue. In the directory where the drivers reside are files for the C64+ architecture (libtixds560c64x_plus.so, libsdgo6400usb_plus.so), but not for C64xx. Maybe the C64xx+ drivers also fit C64xx? Regards Guenter
  • AnBer - What is the full version number of you CCS v5 installation?

    Thanks

    ki

  • Hello, To avoid confusion: AnBer originally started the discussion for me. My CCS versions are: 5.0.0.201010041800 / Build ID N201010041800 and 5.1.0.07001 / Build ID N201108111000 / Spectrum Digital Emulation 5.1.0.9 / TI emulation 5.0.470.0 Both installations only have drivers for C64+, but not for C64. Regards Guenter
  • Hi Guenter,

My apologies for the very late response. I found out that C64x is not supported with CCSv5.1 on Linux. There is a way to hack in this support but be aware that it is indeed a "hack". Let me know if you still are interested.

    Sorry,

    ki

  • Hi Ki, Yes, I'm definitely interested in this hack. I'll possibly be developing for some Linux based DSP system with intermediate support for C6412, so I want to avoid switching between Windows and Linux. thanks & best regards Guenter
  • Hello ki,

I have nearly the same problem as Guenter. I am using CCS5.1 unter Linux, Jtag adapter Spectrum Digital XDS560v2 STM and try to connect it to a C64xx/C6416 processer (e.g. on a DSK6416). May you provide me with the "hack" as well?

P.S. the Jtag connection to the c6416 with CCS 5.1 run under  Windows XP (running in a VM) works but I like to run the complete development chain under Linux

    Thanks in advance,

    Johannes

  • Hello,

I am interested in the hack as well,

is there a link for it?

    thanks
