F2812 Device emulator and simulator

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F2812

Hi,

I am using TMS320F2812 with code composer v 2.1. I do have the eZdsp board that I can use with XDS510USB JTAG emulator.

My question is: Can I use the F2812 Device Simulator provided by CCS to get an estimate regarding the timing and speed of processing for the actual device? If yes, how accurately?

Thanks,

Darshana

  • Darshana,

Different simulators provide different levels of accuracy depending on what you are trying to simulate and measure. This wiki page describes, in general, the different types of simulators and the recommended usage for each. Also please keep in mind that the version of CCS you are using is very old and the F2812 device simulator is no longer supported in newer versions.

  • @AartiG - so are you saying that if we use CCSv3.3 or CCSv5.1, we would not have simulator for Ti 28F12 processor?

If yes - then what do we need to do? (what are the versions of CCS that support simulation of TI 28F12?)

If no - then how to do? (as it seems the link you posted doesn't mention anything about C2000 unless it is implicitly assumed)

@Darshana - you should have at least v2.2 as it supports the flash programmer utility.

  • The F2812 simulator is not included in CCSv4 and v5, the last version to support it was CCS 3.3. Support for this was removed mainly due to the availability of reasonably low cost evaluation kits for the F28x family. CCSv4 and v5 include a F283x simulator but not one for the F2812.
