Hello everyone,
I have recently got this issue with the CCS Version: 5.4.0.00091 where I'm not able to build any project. The specific problem that CCSv5 reports is that while building workspace it states Building Workspace Blocked: The user operation is waiting for background work to finish. I'm not sure what background work the CCS is mentioning here.
I have attached the snapshot of the screen as well the console results.
**** Build of configuration Debug for project Example_2806xClaAdcFir ****
"C:\\ti\\ccsv5\\utils\\bin\\gmake" -k all
'Building file: ../CLA_FIR.asm'
'Invoking: C2000 Compiler'
gmake: *** Access is denied.
. Stop.
gmake: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
**** Build of configuration Debug for project Example_2806xClaAdcFir ****
!CommandLauncher.error.commandCanceled!
Error: Program "C:/ti/ccsv5/utils/bin/gmake" is not found in PATH
Pertaining this error, I have reinstalled CCSv5 and controlSuite but no luck. I have also tried changing the workspace (as mentioned in one of the posts).
Apart from this, I want to mention that CCS was working perfect until I updated BIOS on my system yesterday. I hope that is not causing the problem.
If someone have any idea please guide me through to resolve it.
Sincerely,
Jaspreet
Hi Jaspreet!
At first I would prefer to check path C:/ti/ccsv5/utils/bin/gmake for to be sure that gmake.exe is presented there.
Regards,
Igor
Hi Jaspreet,
a couple things here. Before suggesting a reinstallation I would double check whether the "access error" listed is a permissions issue. Check the ccs and workspace/project folders for permissions.
Failing that, there is unfortunately a known issue with the latest bios update. In this case a full fresh installation is the only option.
Please keep us informed.
Best regards,
Lisa
Hello Lisa,
could you please mention where I can find the permission folders and what I would need to check specifically.
regarding the bios update, I mean the computer bios update not the ccsv5 bios update.
Sincerely,
Jaspreet
Hi Jaspreet,
I mean the permissions of your project and ccs folders. Ie do you/ccs have admin and read/write access?
Best Regards,
Lisa

1 And right after the installation 5.4.0, you have worked normally for a while? Thus the problem has appeared after updating BIOS exactly?
2 Did you work always under Administrator at your OS? Sometimes problems appear under User.

Igor
PS I would prefer to uninstall all from ti-folder and then delete ti-folder. Then one might to run any cleaner for cleaning system register. After you can try new installing.
Hello Igor,
The CCSv5 was working completely perfect as I mentioned before, the problem only appeared after the system BIOS update and I remember now I updated the CCsv5 software updates as well.
I always work as administrator at my OS. As your recommendation, I uninstalled all from ti-folder and then deleted ti-folder too. Run the cleaner as well and re-installed CCSv5.
Still, I see the same error: the gmake path is not found.
Is it possible that we can check the PATH which is used to invoke the complier. That might not be correct.
Sincerely,
Jaspreet
Hello Igor,
The Build settings are exactly the same as the snapshot.
I tried to follow Lisa's recommendation to disable the antivirus and it works perfect.

It is the antivirus which is blocking the build operation .
I apologise for this hassle.
Sincerely,
Jaspreet
Hi!
Wow! I use Symantec Norton AV and I haven't any problems with any applications.
Good luck,
Igor
HI Jaspreet,
great, glad to hear you found the issue and the tips helped.
Thanks for the update and all the best with development.
Best Regards,
Lisa
