Does xds100 class emulators support Wireless USB (R) ?

Hi all,

I am now using F28069 Piccolo Experimenter Kit. There is some reason that my host PC and my target board cannot be connect via a wired USB cable. (Because I have two office tables. one is putting my PC, another one is at my back putting the target board. It is not convenient to use a USB cable as it will disturb colleagues crossing the corridor :(   )

I wanna ask dose that xds100v1 class emulator support wireless USB? Like the product Wireless USB Hub and Adapter

Thanks and regards,

  • Barry,

I never used this product, therefore I can't tell you if it works ok or not.

However, I use XDS100v1 emulators connected to a USB hub and they work just fine, therefore it becomes a simpler case:

    1) does the wireless USB hub provide enough power to the XDS100v1? Certainly so, as it specifies the maximum power for powered HUBs (500mA per port). You only need to be careful if you add circuits and devices to the experimenter kit but try to supply it entirely with the USB power (use the power supply jack instead).

    2) does the wireless USB hub acts identically as a wired HUB? From the description on the links you sent that seems to be the case, but double check if the hub requires special drivers or enumerate its devices in a different way (usually an internet search will reveal any shortcomings pretty quickly).

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Dear Rafael,

Thanks for your reply. I will report to my boss and let him decide if it is worth to have a try.

I will report the result here if we decided to buy one.

    BR,

    Barry
