New in CCS 5.5 is that when an empty project is created for a Stellaris or Tiva device, a <devicename>_startup_ccs.c source file is automatically added which contains the initialisation for the interrupt vector table in flash. This is an improvement over CCS 5.4.
However, the <devicename>_startup_ccs.c source file which gets added contains the following TI license:
//***************************************************************************** // // Startup code for use with TI's Code Composer Studio. // // Copyright (c) 2011-2013 Texas Instruments Incorporated. All rights reserved. // Software License Agreement // // Software License Agreement // // Texas Instruments (TI) is supplying this software for use solely and // exclusively on TI's microcontroller products. The software is owned by // TI and/or its suppliers, and is protected under applicable copyright // laws. You may not combine this software with "viral" open-source // software in order to form a larger program. // // THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND WITH ALL FAULTS. // NO WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING, BUT // NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR // A PARTICULAR PURPOSE APPLY TO THIS SOFTWARE. This is a more restrictive license than than "BSD" license in the equivalent startup_ccs.c source file in the TivaWare and Stellaris Ware empty CCS projects. Is there a reason for this difference in license?
I had thought that we had just taken this file as is from TivaWare so we went back and took a look at the files in TivaWare and StellarisWare and both have the identical license block as what is in the file in CCS. Can you send me the file that you have that uses a different license?
here is the block from the startup_ccs.c file (one of many) in TivaWare

The TivaWare 1.1 examples\project\startup_ccs.c file has the following license terms:JohnS said:Can you send me the file that you have that uses a different license?

The TivaWare 1.1 examples\project\readme.txt explains the reason for the different license for examples\project (compared to the source code for the other TivaWare examples):
Simple ProjectA very simple example that can be used as a starting point for more complex
projects. Most notably, this project is fully TI BSD licensed, so any and
all of the code (including the startup code) can be used as allowed by that
license.
That one is definitely less restrictive. I will see if we can swap it in for the one we have now in CCS. That wouldn't happen until CCSv6 though. For now you could just remove the file the wizard added and add that file instead.
