I am using:
Mac OSX 10.9.1
Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3
VMware Fusion 6.0.2 with Windows 8.1 installed
I downloaded CCS 5.5
Tiva C: EK-TM4C123GXL
PROBLEM:
Following through the TivaWorkshop I downloaded everything they asked for until I got to Lab 2. In Lab 2 you get to blink an LED. The code is definitely working; my Tiva was blinking the 3 different LEDs. But as soon as I click play or pause or try to add a break the mouse pointer starts spinning and at the top of code composer it says Not Responding. Once I disconnect the Tiva C launchpad CCS responds back and everything works fine until I try to debug again.
What I have tried:
-Uninstalling code composer and installing back again.
-Shutting down windows Mac and starting them again.
Thanks you for your help
Hi Mario,
how did you program things in the first place, or was the blinking example pre-loaded? I am wondering if the emulator is not being properly put through the vm. From your despcription communication with the board seems to be where things fail. Unfortunately we don't have a local setup to imitate and test here to see if we can reproduce this.
Do you have any other pc available?
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hello Lisa,
The blinking example was pre-loaded, here is the website where I got it from:
http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Getting_Started_with_the_TIVA™_C_Series_TM4C123G_LaunchPad
How do I check if the emulator is properly put?
Yes, the code is loaded into the board, since I can see the blue, green, and red LEDs blink, but when I press play, pause or stop CCS stops responding. To get CCS back to work I have to disconnect the board.
At my university, I used a PC and the program worked fine. It just does not work with my Mac.
Thank you
After Debugging:
After clicking on Play, Pause and Stop:
I tried clicking Play and then Stop, and it worked! So the problem is when I click pause or, try to insert a break point.
Hi Mario,
I notice the x on your usb symbol on the bottom right, so I suspect the emulator is not passing into the vm properly. I am not sure what to suggest. As mentioned, this is not an environment that I can test or that is "officially supported". I would double click on that usb icon or your vm settings to see if there is something that can be done there.
Sorry I can't be of much further assistance, I fully understand the best case would be if we could get you up and running with your setup.
Best Regards,
Lisa
