TMS320DM6437 EVM Installation Problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM6437, CCSTUDIO

I have a problem with the installation of the Code Composer Studio v3.3 that related to TMS320DM6437 EVM. When I follow the instructions to install the code composer studio v3.3 and Target Content and Drivers for DM6437 the icons that appears on the desktop are: "Setup CCStudio v3.3" and "CCStudio v3.3" insted of "DM6437 EVM CCStudio v3.3" based to the TMS320DM6437 DVDP Getting Started Guide. I need a help to complete the installation correctly as listed in the TMS320DM6437 DVDP Getting Started Guide.

Thanks.

  • Hello,
Where did you get the CCSv3.3 install image from? Did you install CCS from the original CD that came with the EVM? That version of CCS is a limited version that just works for that EVM. It sounds like you may have a full CCS version (which is even better).

    Thanks

  • Dear Ki,

    Thank you for your response.

    Kindly watch this video: "www.youtube.com/watch
My problem is: After I complete the installation of CCSv3.3 from original CD, I tried to install the "DM6437 EVM Drivers and Target Content" from original CD but the "DM6437 EVM CCStudio v3.3" icon does not appear on the desktop.

    I don't know WHY????
  • What Windows version are you using? and Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

Can you tell me which CCS version you have installed?

    Thanks

  • System Information: (32-bit Windows)
OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    Version: 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3, v.6419 Build 2600

    The CCS version: 3.3.38.2
  • I believe 3.3.38.2 is the standard full installation of CCS. Hence it sounds like you have a full version of CCS.

If that is the case, I recommend:
    1. Updating your version of CCS to the latest service patch:
    software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_ccstudio/CCSv3/CCS_3_3/exports/SR12_CCS_v3.3_SR_3.3.82.13.exe

    2. Install the spectrum digital drivers for CCS 3.3:
    support.spectrumdigital.com/ccs33/Release-30330/Patch_030330_XDS510USB_22sept2010.zip

Then you can use the CCS Setup utility to configure CCS for your board. I believe that board has an integrated XDS510USB so you can chose that as your emulator and DM6437 for the device.

There is also quite a bit of other supporting documentation and software on Spectrum Digital's site. I recommend going through them:
    c6000.spectrumdigital.com/.../

    Thanks

  • Dear Ki,

When I tried to update the CCS v3.3 version to the latest service patch then this message appear:
"Setup has not found any valid products to update. Your system may already be up-to-date or you are attempting to install a serial update out of sequence. Setup will now abort."

Then I Installed the spectrum digital drivers for CCS 3.3 "support.spectrumdigital.com/ccs33/Release-30330/Patch_030330_XDS510USB_22sept2010.zip" and used CCS Setup utility to configure CCS for my board, but when I tried to start the code composer studio this message appear:
"Your Code Composer does not support the connected target. Device driver name: "C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdgoicepick_bypass.dvr"".
  • It sounds like you have some restricted version. Please contact me via private message so we can better discuss your options.
  • OK dear, I will.

Thank you for your time :)
  • This issue was resolved off-line. The solution was to use a full version of CCS
