CCS/TMS320DM6437: Problem with CCStudio 3.3 and Spectrum Digital TMS320DM6437 EVM

Hi,

I have a problem trying to make CCStudio 3.3 work with Spectrum Digital TMS320DM6437 EVM board.

I do the following:

I install CCStudio 3.3 from the included CD under Windows XP. Two shortcuts appear on the desktop: CCStudio v3.3 and Setup CCStudio v3.3.
When I select DM6437 EVM Drivers and Target Content on the CD menu, I gеt an error message “Error reading setup initialization file” (I tried on a different PC and got the same message).
So I run \SpectrumDigital\evmdm6437\target_content\setup_evmdm6437_v2.exe from CD using C:\CCStudio_v3.3 as a setup directory.
I connect the included mini-USB cable and the power supply to the board, and install drivers from CD. Spectrum Digital TMS320C64Plus Target appears in Device Manager.
I run CCStudio v3.3 from the desktop and select DM6437 EVM.

Then click Save & Quit.
CCStudio opens and crashes with an error message “Cannot load DSP device driver "C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdgoicepick_dsk64p.dvr". Please run the Setup Program and select a different driver”.
I couldn’t find this driver neither on the included CD nor at http://www.spectrumdigital.com/.

What should I do to use CCStudio v3.3 with TMS320DM6437 EVM board? Included manuals didn’t help.

Are you installing and running CCS (and related drivers) with the required administrative privileges?

Ki, thank you for your answer.

I'm installing CCS on a clean Windows XP version. There's only one user account and it has administrator rights. I tried on a different PC under Windows XP with the same result.

I googled sdgoicepick_dsk64p.dvr and found only one topic https://e2e.ti.com/support/dsp/davinci_digital_media_processors/f/99/t/286985. But there is no answer.

Please completely uninstall your existing CCSv3.3 installation and any related drivers. After you have done that, please do the following (all under administrative rights):

1) Download and install the latest CCSV3.3 version. You can download it from: https://www.ti.com/licreg/docs/swlicexportcontrol.tsp?form_type=2&prod_no=CCS_3.3.83.20_Platinum.zip&ref_url=https://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_ccstudio/CCSv3/CCS_3_3/

2) Download and install the latest SD drivers from SD: http://support.spectrumdigital.com/ccs33/

For those who faced the same problem:

1. CCStudio 3.3 version that comes with the Spectrum Digital TMS320DM6437 EMV board doesn’t support drivers from http://support.spectrumdigital.com/ccs33 (setupCCSPlatinum_v30330.zip). I can’t name the exact CCStudio version since it doesn’t start, but the cc_app.exe file version is 5.98.0.219.

CCStudio crashes saying “Your Code Composer does not support the connected target. Device driver name: "C:\CCStudio_v3.3\drivers\sdgoicepick_bypass.dvr”.

2. CCStudio v3.3.83.20 Platinum (downloaded from www.ti.com) works only with the DM6437 EVM configuration from http://support.spectrumdigital.com/ccs33. It doesn't work with the configuration from the included Spectrum Digital CD. Although this configuration is marked as version 2 (evmdm6437_v2.css).

CCStudio crashes saying “Unable to load C:\CCStudio_v3.3PLA\drivers\sdgoicepick_dsk64p.dvr”.
