Resoure Explorer does not install to workspace

I have just installed latest version of CSS  Version: 6.2.0.00050  and then Resource Explorer for off line use.

Resource Exploer installed to c:\ti with no option otherwise. I keep system on my small C;\ drive and data on my E drive.

When i try to load an code example I get an error saying that the folder E:\workspace\@ti-rex-content\... can't be found , the full path starts with the workspace location.

Furthermore - if i try to move the content of ti-rex-content from C:\ti to E:\workspace i get errors saying that the file name path is too long.

What is the solution - I don't want data files in the root of my small C;\ system drive.

This is currently a known limitation in Resource Explorer. It downloads content to a fixed location and does not provide a way for the user to specify a different location. We have an enhancement request filed ( REX-921) for Resource Explorer to allow user to specify the location where the packages should be downloaded.  We hope to address this for the next CCS release.

The examples should still import and build even if the workspace location is different than the tirex-content location. Could you please provide more details on how/to which directory you downloaded the Resource Explorer package, which package you are working with and which example generates the error? If you can additionally provide screenshots and/or full output of the build console that will also be helpful for us to understand the issue.

  • Have there been any updates here, with Resource Explorer?

I've always used a C:\ti\lib dir for my tirex content, would love to have tirex use this

    Justin,

The request for Resource Explorer to allow user to specify a different directory for downloading content will not be available in the upcoming CCS release 7.2.
We hope to have this in the 7.3 release scheduled to come out sometime in 3Q 2017.

  • Bummer. Looking forward to Q3, thanks!! :)
