Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F6438, MSP-FET
Tool/software: Code Composer Studio
A microprocessor that I am using appears to be causing Code Composer Studio to crash when attempting to debug it.
I am working with two different microprocessors (the MSP430F5338 and the MSP430F6438) with the MSP430-TS430PZ100C socket. No modifications have been made to either chip or to the socket. I would ultimately like to use the F5338 for my final design.
When I launch debug mode with the F6438, the program loads the code normally. However, when I attempt to debug with the F5338 attached, CCS8 will hang until I force the program to close (I made sure to change the chip being used in the project settings). The program will build successfully and then appear to freeze before the debugger can finish loading. I waited with the process for 20 minutes at one point before finally terminating it. I also attempted to restart CCS8 and my PC, but neither restart solved the issue. I have attempted to use both the MSP-FET430UF and the MSP-FET Flash Emulation Tool and the use of both devices resulted in the same outcome.
