CCS/PGA970EVM: Programming a development board using Code Composer Studio and USB2ANY

Part Number: PGA970EVM

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi my name is Hector A Ochoa, and we need some help using a temperature sensor on the PGA970EVM. We just acquired the PGA970EVM board with the USB2ANY adapter for a research project. We are trying to take measurements of displacement using an LVDT, and Temperature using a voltage divider circuit with one of the resistors been a thermistor. We have tested the LVDT with the GUI interface, and we are able to get some measurements. The problem is that it seems that using the GUI interface, we won’t be able to measure both parameters and store the information. We are thinking of using CCS to take the readings directly from the registers and store them into an SD-card. However, we haven’t been able to load any code into the PGA970EVM board. Is there a special procedure to load the code? Or do we need something else besides the USB2ANY adapter? If you can point us in the right direction, I will really appreciate it.

Best Regards,

Hector A Ochoa

To use it with CCS, you will need an XDS debug probe and attach it to the EVM. Please refer to Chapter 5 (page 9) of the User's Guide on connecting your XDS probe to the EVM.

  • That is exactly what I suspected. Also, I was looking at other posts, and I found out one for the PGA900 in which you can use the GUI interface to drop the HEX file. Is this something than can be done with the PGA970?
  • That might be possible. I would check with the experts in the Precision Data Forum:
