Hi All,

I am working with Code Composer Studio version 8.2.0.00007 IDE for MSP430FR5969 microcontroller with Ubuntu 16.04. I want to use printf that print in UART console, but i don't know how to use printf in CCS v8.2.0.00007. So please help me how i can use printf in CCS.

Any help in this is appreciated.

Bhavin,

Our standard RTS library support for printf() is mentioned at the following reference:
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Tips_for_using_printf

A MSP430 oriented page can be found at:
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Printf_support_for_MSP430_CCSTUDIO_compiler

However, it seems you want to redirect the output to a UART port. In this case, check section 2 of the page above that talks about redirecting the printf() stdout

I have checked the link which you have provided:

In that it is mention that how to work with printf() function with CCSTUDIO v5.x , but i have installed CCS version 8.2.0.00007 in ubuntu 16.04. So will printf() function work with this version?

Please let me know how can i use printf() in this version of CCS.

Bhavin,

CCSv8 differs very little in this regard when compared to CCSv5.x and CCSv7.x (also mentioned in the page), therefore the document is applicable.

Also, the regular printf() with the output to STDIO on Ubuntu works fine.

Keep in mind that any console I/O functions such as printf(), putc(), etc. can use many CPU cycles to complete, thus its use should be minimized when dealing with strict real-time systems.
