Hi,

I'm migrating a MSP430F5418A project from an old IAR version to CCS 10.1.0.00010. I can't figure out how to declare a pointer to high memory (20 bit address memory). More generally, I can't find a manual for the compiler. When I tried the Help function I got answers for lots of other processor families. I'd like to read up on just the MSP430 compiler(s).

Any assistance appreciated.

The code/data model is described in the MSP430 CC compiler User Guide (SLAU132X) Sec 6.1. I usually use the CCS check boxes in "Build Settings->Build->Compiler->Processor Options". I think you don't need any special keywords.

A useful companion document is called the MSP430 Assembler User Guide (SLAU131X), but it also discusses the linker and some other handy stuff:

I recall seeing an IAR->CCS migration guide (CCS v6?) but I can't seem to find it now.

I found section 7 Migration of C Code from IAR 2.x, 3.x, 4.x, 5.x, 6.x or 7.x to CCS in CCS Users Guide for MSP430 includes topics for migrating from IAR to CCS.

Thanks very much to both of you Gurus, I found what I needed to know.

Now on to the "teach a man to fish" part - how should I have searched TI's website to find these compiler docs? The "help" function of the compiler was no help at all.
