TIDA-010042: Solar Power Project

Part Number: TIDA-010042

Hello-   Brixbo, LLC has a new power product under development.  I am responsible for development of a couple of the subsystems.  The first is a MPPT controlled solar power to multi-mode battery charging system. Your TIDA-010042 reference design matches many of our functional requirements, although our deliverable requires more power handling capacity. I have not spent any time looking at the software as of yet, but the technical material does not explain the details of the battery charging algorithms. Do you know if code exists to manage AGM vs Lithium batteries, or does the application need to be extended to handle these issues?   I plan to use your controller design and scale the power devices and software to handle up to 1000 watts of solar panels and 80 amps of charge current. The second project is a 50 amp 12-v programmable current battery charging system, which is essentially a subsystem of the scaled up 010042 design (without the MPPT software, and the addition of the charging algorithm software). We are putting together a couple of proof of concept units to test and demonstrate.  The TIDA-010042 as it stands is adequate for this initial product test (I have a stand alone charge controller that I can put between the 010042 and the battery for the demo).   I am enquiring as to the availability of two TIDA-010042 modules to support our development effort. I can be reached at 321-474-6972, or c.fedonczak@brixbo.com.  Our home office is in southern California, but I am in the engineering office, in Melbourne, FL 32901. I was previously with Collins Aerospace. At that time, TI had an excellent power supply expert FAE, Steve Widen, is he still on staff? It would be great to discuss this with him.  Many thanks-Charles

  • Charles,

Sorry for the late reply - I missed the notification somehow.

The current software is for Lithium ion battery. However, it can easily be modified for AGM batteries.

The design is just a TI Design which is not stocked for sale. The documents for fabrication of the board is available on the TI Design page.

    Regards,

    Salil
