TIDA-00818: QC2.0 / 3.0 support

Part Number: TIDA-00818
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB320LI, , BQ25890H, BQ25890, TUSB320

Hello Guys,

Our customer is designing a portable device with a 3A 1-cell charger by using BQ25890H and TUSB320LI chips. The reference schematic they are following for the charger circuit is TIDA-00818. They have the following questions.

*  Does this reference design (chip combination BQ25890(H) + TUSB320LI) support QC2.0/3.0 via USB-C connector? With QC2.0/3.0 I mean charge voltages 9 and 12 v?

* How voltage and current negotiation is handled with a DFP device (for example a wall charger) when both TUSB320 CC pins and BQ25890H D+/D- pins are connected to the USB-C connector?

=> If I have understood correctly TUSB320 handles the handshaking between our device and DFP so that e.g. wall charger will supply power to our device? TUSB320 also informs negotiated max current via I2C to our host processor, but no further action will be needed from the CPU?

=> What BQ25890 does with its D+/D- pins? Negotiates available supply voltages?

Thanks and regards,

Art
