UFP means upstream facing port which means it is a sink side configuration. DFP means downstream facing port which means it is a source side configuration. For TIDA-01620, it is a UFP reference design. 

When you ask VESA DisplayPort Alt Mode to USB-C, are you trying to have DP over Type-C in a source side design?

I do not have a TUSB1044 DP Over Type-C in a source side reference design, you can use TUSB1046 EVM as a starting point. 

Do you have a block diagram of your proposed design? I can review it first and make sure the components being picked are correct first.
