ADS1285EVM-PDK: Functional Circuit Problem

Part Number: ADS1285EVM-PDK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1285

Hi team,

I was looking at the ADS1285-EVM circuit, I found a functional circuit in the ADC front end (picture below). If I'm using a single-ended input, what does this circuit do, filter?

Also, if I want to make some changes based on ADS1285-EVM(such as adding an op amp circuit), is this function circuit recommended to be placed at the front of the entire signal input?

  • Hello Xingwitt,

Yes, the circuit provides filtering of the input signal, and it also provides a small amount of input protection of the input voltage ratings of the ADS1285 is exceeded.

If using the ADS1285 internal PGA, then you can move this circuit to the front of the entire signal chain.  However, if bypassing the internal PGA, then it is recommended to leave this circuit directly connected to the ADS1285 inputs.
