PSPICE-FOR-TI: ERROR (LMC-022097): License call failed for feature PSpice_TI, version 23.100

Part Number: PSPICE-FOR-TI

After doing a recent update, my install would not open Capture and I would get the OrCAD Capture licensing error message.  I read some similar threads that suggested a reinstall would solve the issue but to no avail.  The current license error message I get is attached.

  • Hi Duane,

Did you do an un-install, then reboot first?

Can you post the contents of the following directory and file here?

    Go to %appdata%\Cadence\VBL\TI_PSpice_231\license

You should find a file license.txt

Please also check and upload the following file:

    %appdata%\Cadence\PSpiceTIInstall  File cdsPSpiceTIlog.txt

    Let's see what's going on.

  • Hi David, No I did not perform an uninstall before doing the reinstall.

I scanned through the license file and nothing looked out of place. Each line had CRLF characters. SERVER & HOSTID were correct.  But the DAEMON was still using the relative path (./cdslmd) even though the Instruction comment #2 says to replace the relative path with absolute path.

The install log also looked clean.  I zipped the 2 files and attached to your email reply.

BTW, I do have a Full licensed Cadence Allegro 17.4.025 installed as well.

  • Let's collect some data.

Please setup an environment variable as follows:

    CDS_LIC_QA_TesT environment variable
The CDS_LIC_QA_TesT environment variable is a testability code that is set on the client system running the Cadence tools. The variable is set for troubleshooting Licensing issues. CDS_LIC_QA_TesT must be set before the invocation of the Cadence tool. The value of this variable is any writable area on your system.
    Windows:
Access the Windows button, then Run systempropertiesadvanced > Environment Variables > System Variables > New > CDS_LIC_QA_TesT = c:\cadence\qalog.txt
After setting this variable, invoke the tool. If you get a Licensing error, send the qalog.txt file to Customer Support. The qalog.txt file can grow quite large over time. Hence, it is best to unset the variable when your problem is solved.
Note: Do not set this variable in c:\ drive as you may not have write permission there and the file will not get created. Please set it either in c:\cadence or in a different drive like d:\ .
