Hi,
I need to know, whether inductor need to be changed for supporting output current of 30A in TIDA-010042(old) mosfet based design(not GaN based ).Inductor used in the reference design is having a rated current of 30A and Isat(30%) of 18A.In reference design guide, it is mentioned only to change mosfet package. Please check the attached image.
Regards,
Cyril
Hi Cyril,
The topology of old TIDA-010042 is interleaved Buck, so the average current on one inductor is 0.5*Iout, which means if your output current is 30A, then on the inductor it should be 15A each. Only decreases 10% of the inductance. This inductor is okay.
Best,
Bowen
Hi Bowen,
Thanks for your reply. I have found an inductor which is cheaper than TIDA-010042 inductor. But its saturation current is 15A @30% and rated current is 30A.Can I use that inductor if my maximum output current per phase is 15A
Regards,
Cyril
Hi Cyril,
In theory, this inductor should be fine. The ripple current will be a little bigger.

Bowen
