Hi,

i have to design DC2DC 28v to 7.4v with peak current 5A Ton=0.5msec base on TPS40170.

the stady state is 0.5A .

what is the considration to take in the design? what the indctuar i need to select ?how design the DC2DC to 0.5A or 5A OUTPUT CURRENT?

    I would simply enter in your specifications into the WEBENCH panel on the right hand side of the TPS40170 product folder. I would create the design for the 5A requirement. Please note that the efficiency will drop off significantly at 0.5A. You can then explore the design with different inductors and different conditions using the WEBENCH tools and customize the design to your requirements.
