TINA/Spice/TL331: TL331 spice model

Part Number: TL331
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

HI TI community,

I have some issues with the spice model for the TL331. I'm working on a simulation which includes the TL331 working with dual supplies (-15V / +15V) but on the spice model from Texas I. for the TL331 it's only working with single supplies.

Is there a way to find an other spice model or make it work, or an equivalent of the TL331?

Thank you for your help!

  • Louis,

After doing quite bit of debug on this part...

There is something peculiar about this model, but it's a minor thing. The model can still be used with dual supplies. However, the absolute of VEE has to be slightly lower than the absolute of the VCC.
For instance, instead of +15V and -15V, you can do +15V and -14.99V or +15.1V and -15V.

Also obviously the output's ability to pull down will depend on the loading. The lighter the load the easier it will be able to pull down to VEE (e.g, 20k will be easier than 1k).

  • Thank you Herman,

I tried to put +15V and -14.99 but as result, I have a signal between 0 and -14.99V (the TL331 is used as a comparator).

    If you have any ideas?

    Louis

  • I finally know why I have 0/-15V it's due to the pull-down.

    Thank you for your help!
