PMP40294: missing schematic and PCB design files from downloadable reference design on TI website

Part Number: PMP40294
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ3060, BQ25703A, BQ4050, BQ40Z50

The Zip file contains Altium output job configuration files but not the schematic and PCB design files.
The Gerber files are included in a zip in the folder structure but I would rather work on the Altium design files rather than import the gerber files.

Could you release the rest of the Altium design files please?

Also, in the PDF schematic I've downloaded I'm wondering which battery gauge has been selected.
It's present in the GERBER (U7 if I'm not mistaken) but is not listed in the BOM or schematic despite the charge/discharge FETs being listed.

Best regards,

Marc

  • I'm still missing the Altium design files but at least I've found the 2nd answer regarding the battery gauge (BQ3060) in the PDF schematic contained in the zip.
I didn't expect it to differ from the one downloadable on the PMP40294 webpage.
  • My design is based on the BQ25703A to charge 4 Lithium cells (4S1P). The PMP40294 ref design seems pretty close to what I need.
The BQ3060 is not recommended for new design. Is the newer BQ4050 the successor and a viable alternative to it?
  • Hi Marc

You are right. Bq3060 is not recommended for new design. So we remove this part from our design. But you still figure it out:) For the successor, we recommend the Bq40z50. It is a popular choice for the multiple cells application.

We typically don't release the source Altium files on the website. But if you need the source files, you can contact your local TI sales/FAE to contact us(yingyang-ou@ti.com) to request these files. Thanks!
