Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools
Hi,
I have a quite simple question i think. but i dont know the answer so I ask here...
In webbanch power designer there is writen "temp (deg)".
what does this refer to?
cirquit temp? ambient temp? or something else?..
To explain where i see this "temp" i am refering to:
I go to this page:
http://www.ti.com/design-tools/webench-power-design/power-designer.html
then i choose min 20 V and max 28 V
Vout 5V iout 2amp
ambient 30 C
single output.
then i choose module.
then in the list i get different results.. 80 degrees C, 56 degrees C, 60 degrees 68 degrees etc.
what are these temperatures refering to?
Hi Martin,
Thanks for the question. The temperature you entered with the vin/vout/iout specification is the ambient temperature (Ta). The temperatures you see in the column once you design with a module is the IC junction temperature (Tj) that is estimated based on the losses in the IC, Ta and package info. Tj depends on Ta. Ta is an input whereas Tj is an output from the tool.
