TIDA-01250: additional components on the board but not specified on the schematic

Hi,

I want to reproduce this PCB for the very similar function as the reference design was made. But I see some addicional components on the board picture, so I wanted to know why this components added? Shuold I add them too to my design?

Hello Peter,

the modification on the board is an additional oscillator (14.7456MHz) which is required by the IO-Link stack used in this design. In case you are not using the IO-Link interface you might not need this change. In our reference design TIDA-01437 you see the details of this oscillator in the schematic and BOM.

Thank you for the quick and helpful answer! May I ask more? :) Are the TVS diodes needs for some EMC reasons? (Even if the TIOL111 can handle the human body model surges)

Did you wrote the IO-Link stack or is there a company standard stack for TI devices what you can use for this project? I ask that because this is the most time-consuming part of my project.

Hello Peter,

Regarding your question on the TVS diode, I assume you are referring to the TI Design TIDA-01437. The TVS3300 is used for example to protect against surges, specified in IEC 61000-4-5.

The IO-Link stack comes from a 3rd party. You can find references to 3rd parties we have been working with for example here: TIDA-00188, TIDA-00339.

The 3rd party information of the TIDA-01250 is mentioned in the Design Guide, chapter 2.3.3
