CC2540 and IAR eval

Hello,

I'd like to evaluate the CC2540. Firstly I downloaded the "IAR 30-days evaluation edition" from the link written in TI_BLE_Software_Developer's_Guide.pdf.

Once installed, I tried to compile the "SimpleBLEPeripheral" project, but I got the "Fatal Error[Pe005]: could not open source file ioCC2540.h".

As suggested in the post http://e2e.ti.com/support/low_power_rf/f/538/t/69502.aspx, I logged into IAR "My pages" to download the "6. IAR Systems Embedded Workbench for 8051 patch 7.60.4" patch but, as a evaluation version's user, I "do not have access to this version of the product".

How can I fix this issue?

Did you try clicking "Login to view your free Evaluation and KickStart editions" rather than "Login to My Pages", as suggested in the last post of the thread that you reference?

thank you for the answer!

Yes, I clicked on "Login to view your free Evaluation and KickStart editions". Under it, the only link where I found the patches was the "Information on latest version (7.60)" one.

Under it, I cannot download any of the seven patches listed (all of them state "You do not have access to this version of the product.").

Hi Lorenzo,

Could you please attempt to download the patch again? There seems to have been a problem with the link to that particular download on our webpage, but it should be fixed now.

I have just tried, but unfortunately this problem persists.

There are seven patches, but I'm still unable to download any of them.

You may want to try using 7.51A and then downloading the patches. I haven't checked recently, but 7.6 didn't orig support 2540.

for me still does not work: I can't manage to get an account to download patches, only download related to the latest demo version. Someone is so kind to send me the

For everyone who's trying to download patches for the evaluation or kick-start versions of IAR, try this:

1. Go to this link: http://www.iar.com/website1/1.0.1.0/489/1/

2. At the bottom you will see the link "To view your free Evaluation and KickStart editions: Login here". Click on this link rather than the link that says "Login to my pages".

This should get you access to the patches.

Patches for the evaluation versions (both 7.51 and 7.60) are attached. the pathces for the kickstart versions are available when logging in to "My Pages" on www.iar.com.

hi,

when i download the workbech and register, a usename and password is not provided to log on to "My Pages" by iar systems. can you please post the patch for the kickstart version too.

The user name is the same as the e-mail address you used in order to download the Kickstart version. You will probably need to register the e-mail with an account, and then you also get access to the relevant patches. IAR support can help.

To simplify, I've attached the patches also for the kickstart version. However, future patches might not be posted here, so please make sure you have an account at IAR.

I have just downloaded IAR and i get the same error:

CC2530 is not supported in this version of IAR Embedded Workbench.

I am running trial version of IAR and am not able access my pages. I want to run examples provided in this link.

You need to select the CC2530F256 variant in the project options. The generic part CC2530 is no longer supported since you need to indicate the flash size so that IAR uses the correct linker file.

Thanks a lot.

When I connect the CC debugger and try to run the example program light_switch.c, I get a different errors now:

Fatal Error[e89]: Too much object code produced (more than 0x1000 bytes) for this package 
Error while running Linker

How can i rectify this error?

You need to use the time limited evaluation version of IAR, and not the code size (time-unlimited) kickstart version to evaluate software products larger than the size-limit.

Also note that you get a larger size, but with some limitations in output format, if you use the linker option --ks_version.
