TRF7962A: Electrostatic test of TRF7962A

Part Number: TRF7962A

Hi All,

I have a question about TRF7962A.

The customer has performed an electrostatic test on the TRF7962A.
If static electricity enters the control line, the operation of the IC will freeze.
It does not recover even if the reset bit is input.
Also, it does not return even if EN is turned on / off.
It does not recover even if each power supply (VIN / VDD_PA / VDD_I / O) is turned on / off.

It recovers when all power is turned off and then turned on.

Is there any cause for latching or freeze?

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • Hello Ishiwata,

the TRF7962A does not have a dedicated reset pin which would allow to reset the complete device. The only available reset is a power up reset. From my understanding a power cycling of the VIN supply should do the job because for the VIN voltage, a power on reset voltage of min. 1.4V is defined. If the supplies for VDD_PA and VDD_IO are still present it is possible that these supplies and also logic levels at the inputs will keep the internal voltage at a level that the reset will not occur.

Other ways to initiate a reset are not available when the interface is not operable to issue a software reset.

I am not aware of any reported latch-up effects from other customers.
