Hello,

I have a Trf7970A IC and I'm trying to use it for reading HID iCLASS Px G9P NFC 4+ ... tags.
I'm started to code the basic (Actall, Identify, Select ) commands to communicate with the card, according the presentation mentioned, but on a different MCU:

My problem is the following:

- I often get a different answer to the IDENTIFY command as ASNB (Anti-Collision Serial Number) for the same tag,

- moreover often the number of the received bytes are not equal 10 (8byte ASNB + 2byte CRC),

- and if I try to "call" the SELECT command with the received ASNB, I got no response from the tag

So, my question: is it possible to read with this Trf7970A IC the HID iCLASS Px G9P NFC 4+ ..tags? Because the latest comments in the forum are usually 3-5-7 years old.

Hi Roland,

after looking into that thread and the attached documentation the implementation that was done with the DLP-7970ABP + MSP-EXP430G2 Launchpad was working.

We have made no changes to that and since I know there were no requests in the past.

My recommendation would be to buy these inexpensive hardware parts as a reference to see if it will work with your tags.

The root cause for the effects that you have described can possibly be noise induced from the power supply via the supply lines or via RF.

which describes the same phenomen. (ACTALL OK, IDENTIFY OK, SELECT transmitted, but no response). And this problem seems to be: not totally resolved.

Our hardware and firmware is capable of reading for example: nxp mifare ultralight tags (with ISO/IEC 14443), so the noise is probably not the problem.

Hi Roland,

what the customer describes seems to be the same problem that you are facing. He is using also a different MCU to control the TRF7970A. As Ralph wrote is the tag handling timing critical. The firmware, that is provided in this thread, was never officially released and the colleague who implemented that, years ago, is no more available.

Texas Instruments provides a NFC firmware stack to handle the standards but I am not able to give support for this specific tag beyond what is attached to these threads already from Josh.
