LP-CC2651P3: How can I get the 20 dBm output in proprietary mode at 2.4GHz with LaunchPad CC2651P3 development kit?

I have some quenseions about using the LaunchPad CC2651P3 development kit?

Q1:How can I get the 20 dBm output in proprietary mode at 2.4GHz with LaunchPad CC2651P3 development kit?

I need to use proprietary mode at 2.4 GHz with the 20 dBm PA, but I can not get any output power with these settings:

(1).Use example: simplelink_cc13xx_cc26xx_sdk_6_30_00_84\examples\rtos\LP_CC2651P3\prop_rf\rfPackTx;

(2).Set DIO29_RF_PA =High, DIO28_RF_2G4 = Low;

(3).Set RF_cmdPropRadioDivSetup.txPower = 0xFFFF;

Q2:Why can't set 20dBm in SmartRf Studio in proprietary mode, But BLE mode and IEEE 802.15.4 mode can set 20dBm in SmartRf Studio?

Hi pengfei,

I will ask the Software Development and Tools Teams and get back with you on this shortly. It may be the case that PropRF PHYs have not been tested/validated for High PA operation and thus are not provided in the resources.

For Smart RF Studio 7, it's been determined that High PA can be enabled for the LP-CC2651P3 Proprietary Mode by removing options="disable_high_pa" from the SmartRF Tools\SmartRF Studio 7\config\xml\cc2651p3_prop_pg10\cmd_settings\categories.xml file. I am still investigating support for the SIMPLELINK-CC13XX-CC26XX-SDK as well.

I'll re-confirm the correct steps with the Development Team, meanwhile what version of Smart RF Studio 7 are you using and what exact settings did you use to recreate the output error?

Edit given feedback from the Team: "Unfortunately overrides do not solve the problem so fixing this without code changes and/or getting validated settings doesn’t seem feasible." Thus this does not appear to be a setting currently enabled for users.

Thanks for the additional information pengfei, however there is nothing that users can currently do to enable the High PA for Proprietary RF with the CC2651P3 on existing software solutions. This will be further evaluated internally for future releases.
