CC-DEBUGGER: Flash custom cc8530 design and debugger gives green light, but purepath wireless configurator says disconnected

Part Number: CC-DEBUGGER

The purepath wireless configurator recognizes the debugger is connected with the green light, but indicates no device is connected to the debugger. The green light on the debugger turns green when the design is plugged in and goes back to red after it is disconnected and the reset button is pressed.

What could be the reasoning for this? What does the debugger use to detect if a device is connected? What does the Purepath wireless configurator use to determine if a device is connected? Why would they be different?

Thank you,

Austin

  • Hi Austin,

Your setup sounds correct and is in accordance with SWRA281If the board is powered and the CC Debugger is connected correctly, pressing the reset button on the CC Debugger should make the LED on the CC Debugger turn green. If so, the CC debugger is ready to download firmware images from the PurePath Wireless Configurator.

I believe you had a hardware setup working at some point, so what occurred in between?  Are you able to use the PurePath Wireless Commander?  Do you have any CC85XXDK-HEADSET hardware with which to test the PurePath Wireless Configurator, or only a custom design?

    Regards,
    Ryan

  • Yes, the CC debugger turns green, but when I try uploading firmware from the computer PPW configurator recognizes the CC debugger is connected, but does not recognize any hardware is connected to it.

The hardware set up I had prior would allow me to download firmware, but had quite a few other Hardware errors that prevented normal operation. The new hardware has all those corrections and has been reviewed/approved by TI’s 2.4 GHz hardware design review. I have not tried PurePath wireless commander, but I will download it and try testing with it next. Unfortunately, I only have the custom design to test with.

  • If you have any CC DEBUGGER compatible TI EVMs, two those as well to confirm that the debugger is still operable.  You will also want to review the JTAG connections and make them as short as possible.
