What is correct schematic between reference design and datasheet about CC2538?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2538

I'm working CC2538.

However, I have some confusion for designing because of the difference between CC2538-CC1200EM Reference Design and CC2538 datasheet.

There are some following issues. What's correct circuit?

1. The difference of RF matching circuit.

2. The difference of reset filter circuit's resistor.

  • The schematic drawings in the datasheet are always meant as an illustration. The reference design is always the correct one.

That said I found out that the CC2538 reference design is not on web, please see attached. 6428.CC2538EM_1_1_0.zip

  • Hello Se-Hee Whang,

The RF balun and matching circuit in the datasheet was taken from the CC2538EM reference design, which has an SMA connector and a PCB antenna in a "select one" configuration as follows:

It seems that this reference design has been replaced by another reference design on the CC2538 product page by mistake. We will fix this as soon as we can.

The CC2538+CC1200EM reference design is similar, but, as is often the case, has some component value tweaks to optimize performance on that particular board. As a starting point, you should always use the component values in the reference design that you are basing your own design on.

For the Reset_N filter, I recommend using 2.2kOhms. The 2.2 ohm value from the datasheet might be a typographic error, but this filter is optional (albeit recommended), so you will be able to choose quite freely in your own design.

    I hope this helps.
