Questions on cc2500emk for my design project.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2500EMK, CC2500, CC2510, CC1100, CC1101

Good morning forum,

I'll start by explaining what my senior group is trying to accomplish and then I'll explain the path we are looking at.

Goal:

Build a baby monitoring system with expansion capabilities.  For now we just want to send audio but down the road we want the ability to transmit other information like hi-temp conditions, motion etc.  This is why I thought the cc2500em would work for us.

Right now we just want to get past the basics which is sending audio from Base unit to Remote unit.

I was planning on using the cc2500emk for the transmission and I have two cc2500em's but nothing to program them with.

What is my cheapest method to get them programmed?

Do I need a micro-processor in front of the cc2500em on both ends?

If I'm only using audio at the moment is there any way to make them work out of the box with out programming?

Here is my plan so far and please let me know if there are holes or redundancy.

Base Unit:

Baby cries -->  Mic ---> mic pre-amp circuit ---> ADC ---> cc2500emk

Remote Unit:

cc2500emk ---> DAC ---> pre-circuit ---> speaker

I just feel like I'm over thinking things or not thinking things through clear enough.  Any input would be appreciated.  I could always go FM to transmit just audio but I thought going the 2.4GHz would be more fun.
