SmartRF™ Packet Sniffer software

Hello.

I use the SmartRF™ Packet Sniffer software.
In the "Display filter" tab, "Filter name" = Data Type, "Template" = PTY=x what values can be x?
I am able to filter out "Emty PDU" specifying PTY = Emty, but filter L2CAP packets fails.

Thanks.

Natan.

  • I've been trying to find an answer for this for awhile. I finally determined a work around that at least means you can get rid of the Empty PDU.

Open up the file Packet Sniffer\bin\general\plugin\ble\FieldDef.plt  using Notepad (or another text editor).

Line 77 (at least in mine, if not, just search for PTY) has:

    FI_PDU_DATA_TYPE |Data Type |H1S0V1 |PTY|CR_YELLOW |CR_BLACK |Data Type | |TRUE |TRUE |SM_NOTAPPL |

Change that  PTY to a PTZ like:

    FI_PDU_DATA_TYPE |Data Type |H1S0V1 |PTZ|CR_YELLOW |CR_BLACK |Data Type | |TRUE |TRUE |SM_NOTAPPL |

Save it and restart the Packet Sniffer. Now in the Display Filter you can just add the Filter Condition

    PTZ=

To display any of those packets. You can also limit it to PTZ=Control  or PTZ=L2CAP-S

Wished TI would fix the Packet Sniffer so it would work correctly, but at least this now works.
