CC1310: What are the differences, advantages and disadvantages of synchronous and asynchronous RF communication?

I have been working on the current RF CC1310 project implementing asynchronous transmission and reception, while I am thinking about some problems in my development, I am wondering how to differentiate between asynchronous and synchronous communication?

Hi,

In proprietary RF, asynchronous operation usually means that the collector is always listening, and the nodes use clear channel assessment/listen before talk to avoid any collisions. This means that sensors can operate in a low-power way while the collector should have access to line power. TI 15.4-Stack uses this approach. And you can of course implement your own solution based on our prop rf examples.

If your collector is battery powered you may consider a synchronous protocol better since this allows both devices to sleep between exchanges. We have prop rf examples showcasing how to implement this as well:
