LAUNCHXL-CC1352P: Power consumption of CC1352P vs. CC1310+CC1190?

According to SWRA517, CC1310 + CC1190 needs 200mA to achieve 20db txPower, while CC1352P1 needs only 68mA. Apparently power efficiency in CC1352P1 improved a lot.

My question is: is there any reason to start a new design with CC1310 + CC1190/other RF frontend? I can see two: 1) Get a few extra DB txPower. CC1352P caps at 20DB, while CC1310 + CC1190 can go up to 27DB. 2) Reduce BOM cost. Both at the cost of increased power consumption. Is there any other possible benefit of CC1310 + CC1190?

Please offer some pointers. Thanks.

This will depend on your overall spec. 6 dB more in output power gives 2x the range. CC1190 will also improve the sensitivity with 3 dB.

2X range is what I am after, otherwise we will have settled on CC1352P.

What is the effect of addition of CC1190 on baseline current draw? If actual communication runs at 1/minute? I haven't received my CC1310-90 launchpad yet. From previous measurement of CC1352P power consumption, increasing txPower doesn't seem to affect power consumption much if communication is not frequeny.

The power is only increased when in RX or TX. If not in one of these states, CC1190 will be in power down with < 1uA current draw.
