CC3220MOD: CC3200 support HD video capability?

Part Number: CC3220MOD

Hi Webmaster,

My customer is interested in CC3220+OV788 reference design: www.ti.com/.../swra599.pdf

But his camera support 1080p, 30frame.

My customer worried about the video bandwidth can't handle by CC3220mod.

Have TI verified 1080p,30 resolution?

How about the video quality?

Regards,

David

  • Hi David,

Although that specific reference design only supports 720p at 30fps, there is no reason why the CC3220 cannot handle 1080p at 30fps. At the video encoder settings specified in that design, 720p at 30fps takes ~2mbps. Assuming a 1080p stream at the same settings takes ~5mbps, that is still well within the CC3220 max throughput of 16mbps.

I suggest your customer take a look into their video encoder and see how much throughput it requires for the customer's desired video quality/compression. If it is less than 16mbps, then transporting the encoded video stream is technically feasible with the CC3220.

    Regards,
    Michael
