About CC2531 reception test

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2531, CC2531EMK, CC2530EMK, SMARTRFTM-STUDIO, SIMPLELINK-2-4GHZ-DESIGN-REVIEWS

Hi,All,

Currently, RF engineers test the receiving sensitivity of CC2531 through RF instruments:

CC2531 is in packetRx state in SmartRf Studio,

The RF instrument sends ten 127-byte data packets quickly (about 5ms), and SmartRf Studio shows that 2531 can only receive 1-2 packets;

The RF instrument quickly sends 1000 127-byte data packets, and SmartRf Studio shows that CC2531 can only receive dozens of packets;

In addition, in SmartRf Studio, CC2531 is basically normal as the receiving/transmitting terminal, and the fastest sending interval is about 30-40ms;

For the scene of rapid data sending by the instrument, how to improve the statistics of CC2531 data reception in SmartRf Studio?

  • Hi Howjie,

    What hardware do you use for the CC2531 and have you tested with a CC2531EMK/CC2530EMK?  What mode is being evaluated, how far apart are the radios, and do you use SMARTRFTM-STUDIO to transmit the data packets as well?

    Regards,
    Ryan

  • CC2531 uses our own board (we currently don't have CC2531EMK on our side).

    The entire testing process is carried out using SmartRf Studio.

    During the test, CC2531 and the radio frequency instrument are connected through a cable for receiving test,
    The radio frequency instrument sends 127 bytes, and the sending interval is about 750us;

    In SmartRf Studio (Not checked "seq. Num Included in Payload"), CC2531 can only receive a small amount, Lauchpad CC2652 can receive more, and CC2652 can receive about 60% of the correct data packets.

    As a sniffer dongle, CC2531 can capture enough data packets sent by the instrument.

    In ubiqua, we can see that the interval between adjacent data packets is about 5ms.

  • The packet reception interval in SMARTRFTM-STUDIO will be limited by the connection to the PC, please see the following E2E posts for further details:
