Antena PIFA - BLE - SensorTag

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2540, CC2640

Hi,
I am developing a product and I am using the project SensorTag like reference. In my project I am using CC2540, PIFA antenna and BLE . I imported the archives of allegro to the Altium and The PIFA antenna have something around of the design of  "F". Please, look the picture.

However, In DN007 is recommended a ground plane below of the PIFA design, there is nothing around of PIFA :

Please, what is this around F? Is This GND or not? ???????????

I must leave the area around the  antenna empty?

I should put a layer around the F? What would it be?

Maybe occurred some mistake when I used "Import Wizard" of Altium, and I need these informations to finish the project of PCB antenna.

Thanks,

  • I do not have Altium installed so I have not tried importing this my self. However, there should not be anything around the F antenna, only the GND plance below the PIFA design like the DN007 recommend and you refer to. The area on the sides of the antenna should if possible be empty yes, otherwise this will affect the antenna performance.
  • Hi,
    as I had mentioned
I am developing an device and I'm using the project Sensor Tag as a reference. I am using CC2640 and the same antenna, inverted F in my device.
My project is ready, but I'm having some difficulties to find a company that can manufacture the plate with the same thickness of SensorTag layers.
In SensorTag is specified the following measures:

But the company says than can produce the board with the flow measured:

Dielectric FR4, with thickness of 0.075 mm instead of 0.175mm
Dielectric FR4 between layer L2 and L3 with 0.930 mm instead of 1.01 mm recommended in the document.

    what problem this may imply?
My antenna can works with these measures? what do you recomend?
