dual-band CC1350 wireless MCU Sensor Tag

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1350, CC1350STK

I am following the out of box demo step by step and I have run into a road block In the steps it says to download the TI sensor AP for IOS and I have and it works as instructed until step 3 of the section on downloading images OAD.  In item 2 &3 it instructs to make one device a concentrator by downloading from the list on the phone the Concentrator firmware for the US version.  Although the file named in the text does not exist there is a file for this version which is 1.45 with 1.33 firmware.  The next step instructs to download the Node firmware from the same location.  However, it does not exist  there are node files for EU but none for the US.

There is another phone AP by TI called the SimpleLink starter, this is very confusing because it is not mentioned anywhere but in its firmware update files a file to create a 1350 tag node does exist but it is for version 1.51 so it instructs to update the firmware in version 1.45.  However, there is a version A and B and I am not sure which one to use or if it is for the 1350 sensor tag.

Could anyone sort this out for me/  Thank you

  • Are you attempting to find the node and concentrator files while the app is connected to a CC1350 Launchpad or Sensortag? The node and concentrator examples are intended for the Launchpad out of box experience and should show up if you are connected to a Launchpad.
  • file list is the same either way I have a cc1350 launchpad pair and they worked correctly and the files were there. The file list shows up the the phone app specif the the device ID so while they were there for the launch the node is missing for the tag.
  • Sorry I forgot to say that there is an out of box experience for the Sensor Tag as well you can see it in the resource explorer under the cc1350 sensor tag this where I am working right now.
  • Hello

Thank you for the suggestion but I have done all of that and more. I have the out of box demo for the launch pad and demo running.  I have a network running with 2 launch pads and a tag.  I also have a network running with two tags.  However, I do not know if they are in the sub 1Gz mode? How do I tell?  And no one has answered my question about the node firmware for the Tag.  If you follow the steps for setting up the demo it states you can find the node firmware on the list in the phone AP.  However, the US node firmware is not listed.  The concentrator is listed for US and for EU also version that works with the LCD.   However, the only Node firmware listed is the EU versions and one has the word compatible following the name.  I installed that one in the Tag and it seems to work however I suspect it is only working in blue tooth.  I think maybe the list of firmware choices have been mistakenly labeled in the phone ap and wish someone would look at it and tell me which one to use for a US node for sub 1g 1350 tag.  Should be an easy question.

Also just a note if you want to do the out of box firmware updates you have to use chrome to see the buttons to push.  If you run the instructions in CCS the buttons don't show up.  That is probably why the other person you referenced is haveing so much trouble getting set up.  You also need development boards and displays are really helpful.

Could you please answer my question?

  • I am still looking for the answer of how to tell if the devices is working in sub 1ghz mode does anyone know

  • You can find RF examples for CC1350STK at dev.ti.com/.../
  • You should use the Started App, this app includes the latest version of the binaries you will download. Sorry for the confusion and bad/misleading instructions.

Make sure to follow the steps and re-flash the sensortag with latest firmware, this is critical to get it to work.
  • done and done I know when the red light is on it should be sub 1 and when green light is on it is BLU but I am not getting any distance from the node before it drops out like it is always in the the BLU mode

  • hi

I have both the launch board bd tags running I do not get anywhere near the 2Km claimed in the spec.  I can go maybe 100 ft so that is why I suspect that the dub1ghz mode is not active although every indication says it is.  I get the red light the display give me RSSI the phone is connected the OAD is working.  What can I do simply to see that the 915Mhz is running?  Can anyone help
